Colourtech Polyester Pigments are stable dispersions of dry organic/ inorganic pigment powders in an unsaturated/ non- styrenated polyester resin. They are used for coloring Fiberglass Reinforced Plastics (FRP). The pigment dispersions are free from plasticizers. The base resin is manufactured in-house. This carrier resin combines chemically with the moulding grade of commercial resins during curing.
There
are 72 opaque shades in the
Polyester range and about
12 translucent shades (standard
shades). Special colors
are also custom matched as
per customer`s requirement.
Properties of the pigment:
The base pigments are selected based on its properties such as:
- Light Fastness
- Heat Resistance
- U.V. Resistance
- Outdoor Durability
- Chemical Resistance
- Electrical Properties
- Coverage Properties
- Stability
- Uniform Dispersion
Usage
Levels: The
following is a recommended
usage level of Colourtech
Polyester Pigment with
commercial grades of resins.
The percentage loading listed
below is to be calculated
on the weight of the molding
resin
8-12 % For Gel Coats
4-6% For Laminates
8-10% For SMC/DMC Mouldings
1-4% For Translucent Sheets
4-6% For Filled Castings
8-10% For Pultrusions
Insufficient pigments may lead to non- uniformity of color and other surface defects. Higher pigmentation levels will provide better color uniformity, color depth, brightness and longer durability. |
